With the every increasing demand for lower energy consumption, even in off-load conditions, Hydrovane introduced their Reduced Energy Venting System (REVS) as standard from April 2008 on all Vertical (ACE) 5 HP - 60 HP (4 kW - 45 kW) as well as Horizontal (PEAS) 15 HP - 60 HP (11 kW - 45 kW) Models.
REVS is a pneumatic system that measures the internal pressure of the compressor and is automatically activated as soon as the compressor goes off-load. REVS uses solenoids to internally vent the compressed air down in the Air Ends RSU (Rotor, Stator Unit) to 30 psi (2.0 bar). There is an internal count down timer, dependent on model, that can be adjusted to either 60 seconds on a 116 psi (8 bar) compressor or 90 seconds on a 145 psi (10 bar) compressor.
Internally venting the compressed air means the compressor is not trying to compress already compressed air that results in energy consumption reducing to as low as 20%. Air is instantly available at anytime during this venting period (instant restart at any reducing pressure).
REVS also delivers low starting current by having the intake valve closed during start sequence. As the compressor starts with no internal pressure this means reduced motor power. REVS only takes place when the compressor runs-on in an off-load condition.
